This is the area where desirable seedlings that have been selected from the
seedling beds in the greenhouse, are grafted outside onto rootstock. Peak
bloom is from mid to late April. Grafting serves several purposes:
desirable seedlings are cloned, seedling maturity is hastened by rootstock
vigor, field production may be assessed and siblings from the same cross can be
compared under field conditions.
