Seedlings mature rather quickly. This seedling already has a large flower bud,
even
though it germinated only about 8 weeks ago. In 2 weeks, we will know if it
is fragrant
and what color the bloom will be. Petallage usually increases
as the baby rose further matures.
The seedling did bloom on 3-3-2000. The bloom was nearly 5 inched
across, was an
orchid pink color with silvery reverse and was fragrant! The
plant tipped over from the weight
of the bloom. After the bloom was cut
off, the seedling was only about 3 1/2 inches high.
This seedling like most seedlings, was discarded after being evaluated for more
than a year.
